- Wrap the string where the tape would go, snug and level against the body. For the size number it is the ribcage directly under the bust, and for the cup it is the fullest part.
- Pinch the string where the end meets it, and hold that point.
- Lay the string flat along a ruler, a measuring scale or a tailor's tape and read the number in inches.
- Write both numbers down, then enter them in the calculator.
How to measure your bra size
Measuring a bra size takes a tape and two numbers. Measure your underbust in inches for the size number, measure your bust at the fullest part for the cup, and subtract the first from the second. Each inch of difference is one cup size, so a three-inch difference is a C cup.
Find the crease directly under the bust. Take the measuring tape round the ribcage at that line, level and snug, not pulled tight. Read the number in inches. Round the reading to the nearest inch. That is your underbust.
Add 4 inches to an even underbust measurement, or 5 inches to an odd one. That gives the size number. An underbust of 32 inches gives a size 36, and an underbust of 31 inches gives the same 36.
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back and flat against the body.
Subtract the size number from the bust. One inch is an A cup, two inches a B, three inches a C, four inches a D, and so on up the chart.
Note that this calculator adds 4 to an even underbust measurement and 5 to an odd one, which is the convention most bra labels sold in Pakistan are cut to. Several international brands add nothing at all, so a size worked out here can read one size smaller on an imported label.

Every extra inch of difference between bust and size number is one cup size. A 36-inch bust on a size 34 is a two-inch gap, which is a B cup.

Size numbers and cup sizes
A bra size is written as a number and a letter. The number is the size number, which runs 28 to 50 in even steps and describes the measurement around the ribcage. The letter is the cup, which runs AA to G and describes the difference between the bust and the size number. In 34C, 34 is the size number and C is the cup.
Bra sizing in Pakistan follows the UK and US conventions and is measured in inches. No separate Pakistani national standard exists.
Sister sizes, and when to use one
A sister size is the same cup volume on a different size number. Move down one size number and up one cup, or up one size number and down one cup, and the volume stays the same, so 34B, 32C and 36A all hold the same cup. The difference between bust and size number sets the cup size, which is why the letter moves when the size number does.
Sister sizes matter most when a size is out of stock. If 34B is unavailable, 32C is the closest fit and sits tighter around the ribcage. If the band digs in but the cups fit, going up a size number and down a cup keeps the volume and returns the comfort.

When to re-measure your bra size
A bra size is not permanent. Weight changes of about 5kg or more, pregnancy, breastfeeding and hormonal shifts all move it, and a fresh measurement every 6 to 12 months keeps the size current.
